Searching the New Pekin Docket
Indiana's current court directory has no row for New Pekin. The selector on Indiana MyCase doesn't list it either. Pick Washington County there instead. Got a case number, citation, or cross-reference number? Start with that. A name search works too. Use the last, first, middle, or business name fields plus date of birth. The attorney tab takes a bar number or an attorney name. MyCase is free and usually needs no account, though a CAPTCHA may pop up.
- Open MyCase and select Washington County as the court location.
- Enter one identifier, or use a party name with narrow filters.
- Match the court, filing date, case style, and status.
- Open the Chronological Case Summary, or CCS, and read the newest events first.
- Call the Washington County Clerk if a public document is missing or a setting needs confirmation.
MyCase limits you to twenty rows per page, so a broad name search may demand a status, date, or case-group filter. Keep perspective on a blank result. It does not prove the file is gone. Confidential, sealed, expunged, juvenile, adoption, and mental-health material can be absent or restricted from public view.
New Pekin Has No Court Row
New Pekin is an incorporated town. That status does not create a separate public court database. The official selector lists Washington County with its Circuit and Superior courts, nothing more. This trips up a lot of people. Wait around for a town-only portal and you may miss the county case record holding the actual setting, charge, filing, or judgment you need.
Search rule: Use New Pekin as the place connected to the facts, but use Washington County as the court-location filter.
The town's local forms and notice links serve town administration only. They cannot replace MyCase or the Clerk's case-record process.
New Pekin Municipal Court Basics
New Pekin has no municipal court, judge listing, daily calendar, or town payment portal of its own. Under Indiana law and Washington County's local assignment rules, its cases land in Washington Circuit Court or Washington Superior Court. Circuit Court holds broad trial jurisdiction. Superior Court shares that jurisdiction except in juvenile matters. Local rules also split the workload by case type, representation, and monthly rotation. So never assume one court always takes civil and the other criminal. The unified Washington County Clerk of Courts keeps the public records for both benches. Ask the Clerk for a current CCS, an ordinary or certified copy, or a payment status. Ask the court named on the result when your question is a hearing setting.
New Pekin Town Links Differ
The official New Pekin website carries links for a complaint form, a violation letter, business hours and address, contact information, bill payment, and reports. Its contact form wants a name, email, and message. Town services, utility bills, civic reports, and town notices fit those channels well. A court docket search does not. Nor does a Washington County court-record request.
The town page draws a clean line. Local administrative links stay with New Pekin, while cases and CCS entries sit in county and state court systems. So skip the town complaint form for a case-copy request, unless the town itself tells you otherwise.
Court Dates and Settings in New Pekin
Check any New Pekin court date in the CCS under the county case. A hearing event lists its date, time, location, judge, and status. Read the newest entries first. A later order can reset or cancel an earlier date. MyCase works for a first look. But confirm a near-term appearance with the court office itself. Once the result names the court, call Circuit Court at 812-883-5302 or Superior Court at 812-883-4949.
| Date | The date assigned in the latest hearing event or order. |
|---|---|
| Time | The stated start time, which may be a docket call rather than an individual slot. |
| Location | The court and room listed for the setting. |
| Judge | The judicial officer shown for that hearing. |
| Setting Type | Arraignment, pretrial, trial, review, or another scheduled event. |
Decode New Pekin Case Numbers
Indiana case numbers pack a lot into one line. County, court, filing month, case type, and sequence all appear. Consider the format-only example 88C01-2501-IF-000001. It is not a real case. The 88 marks Washington County. C01 marks Circuit Court, and 2501 means January 2025. IF is an infraction. The final six digits give the sequence. Superior Court swaps in D01, as in the fictional 88D01-2501-F6-000001.
- CCS
- Chronological Case Summary, the dated docket history.
- IF
- Infraction, including many traffic matters.
- OV
- Ordinance violation.
- CV
- MyCase's broad civil search group.
- CR
- MyCase's criminal and citation group.
A case-type label tells you nothing about the outcome. Open the CCS and read the latest status, disposition, and any linked public orders.
Traffic Tickets in New Pekin
Search a New Pekin citation in MyCase by citation number. Indiana's ePay Public Access gives three lookup routes for eligible tickets. Those are ticket or UTT number, driver-license number, or name with date of birth. Remember what ePay is. It searches and pays, but it is not the full CCS. Only an eligible result shows an online payment action. The New Pekin bill-payment link does not pay a court ticket. Confirm the court and case first. PayGov is linked by the county Clerk, yet it is no universal docket system either. Paying creates no certified disposition and does not prove every appearance duty has ended. The countywide Washington County traffic ticket resource explains the court record behind a citation.
New Pekin Search Fields
Match the field to the document in hand. Never combine the three identifier fields in one MyCase search. A broad party query can be narrowed only after the required name rules are met.
| Route | Useful fields | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| Case | Case, citation, or cross-reference number | Known identifier |
| Party | Last, first, middle, business, DOB range | Name-based lookup |
| Attorney | Bar number or attorney name | Counsel-linked case |
| Advanced | CR, CV, FAM, PR, status, file dates | Reduce large results |
| ePay | UTT, license, or name and DOB | Eligible ticket |
Each MyCase row shows the case number, court, type, status, status date, file date, and case style. Common names demand extra care. Match several of those fields before you open any record.
Where New Pekin Cases Go
New Pekin has no town court of its own. Trial cases go straight into the Washington County court structure. Circuit Court holds unlimited trial jurisdiction, except where another court holds exclusive or concurrent power. Superior Court covers civil, criminal, divorce, estate, guardianship, protective-order, and small-claims work. Juvenile matters sit outside its concurrent jurisdiction.
Docket flow: New Pekin matter › Washington County Clerk › Washington Circuit Court or Washington Superior Court › Court of Appeals of Indiana
Local rules control assignments. Rotation applies to some case categories. Search both county courts when the number is unknown. Appeals follow a different road. An appeal leaves the Washington trial record and moves into Indiana's appellate systems. For the wider county route, see the Washington County court docket overview.
New Pekin Clerk Access
The Clerk's office sits in the Washington County Justice Center at 801 S. Jackson Street, Suite 102, Salem, Indiana 47167. Tell the clerk exactly what you need. Give the court, the case number, the document or event, the filing date, and whether you want an ordinary or certified copy. Ask for the current fee, any postage, accepted payment methods, and a completion estimate. State rules recognize a public terminal at the courthouse. Call ahead to learn whether Washington County offers one.
New Pekin Copy Request Route
Start narrow. A strong New Pekin record request describes one item with precision. Name the court if the MyCase result lists it. That means Washington Circuit Court or Washington Superior Court. Add the case number and the filing date. State the exact item sought, such as an order, a judgment, a complaint, or the CCS. State whether inspection is enough, or whether you need an ordinary or certified copy. Certification is the clerk's formal authentication of a document. That step means more than printing a page you found on MyCase.
The Clerk lists several channels. You can go in person, by phone, email, mail, or a directory fax number. Confirm the channel before you send anything. Ask whether a public PDF can be emailed. Ask whether pickup or mail return works. Also ask what redactions apply, and what fee and postage will be charged. The county fee page does not publish a full local itemized schedule. Statewide reference amounts are never a final New Pekin quote.
When a document is missing from MyCase, describe it as not online. Do not assume it is confidential. Some older public material has never been scanned. Other items are withheld under Access Rule 5. Transcripts follow a separate path, because the court reporter handles their production. An appellate filing goes to the Indiana appellate clerk. A federal filing belongs with its federal court.
County trial-case requests never go to New Pekin town forms. If the Clerk does not hold the item, ask which named custodian does. Keep every response, fee estimate, and delivery term. That paper trail helps you fix a denial or a routing error. It also keeps the request focused. One item stays one item, instead of ballooning into a demand for every record connected with a person.
Three results close the loop. A MyCase entry gives you the public New Pekin case index and CCS. A court call confirms the live setting. A Clerk reply tells you whether the document exists and what a copy costs. Save each identifier and date for later verification. If the case was transferred, search the updated court code. Do not run a new New Pekin name query. If the matter was appealed, move to the state appellate record. That sequence keeps the search tied to the court that now controls the file.
New Pekin Court Record Access Rules
Washington County keeps New Pekin court records open to the public unless a rule or law excludes them. Public does not mean everything sits online. Older files may never have been scanned, and certified copies come only from the Clerk. Access Rule 5 shields sealed cases along with listed juvenile, mental-health, treatment, adoption, victim, witness, child, account, and identity data. Parties can see more through a limited access-code process. That view is not the general public one.
Key Rules:
Indiana Access Rule 4 makes court records public unless another rule excludes them.
Indiana Access Rule 5 identifies confidential, sealed, excluded, and redacted material.
Indiana Public Records Act, IC 5-14-3 governs reasonably particular requests, inspection, copies, fees, and denials subject to court rules.
Keep the request focused. Name the case, the court, the date, and the document or event you want. If access is denied, save the written response. Access Rule 9 offers a verified extraordinary-circumstances process, and the Indiana Public Access Counselor answers public-access questions.
New Pekin Federal Record Boundaries
The official bankruptcy CM/ECF information identifies the separate federal filing system.

Federal records live elsewhere. A New Pekin bankruptcy matter will not appear in the Washington County MyCase row. PACER is the official federal public-access service for those case records.

The official PACER pricing page explains federal page charges, caps, and thresholds. PACER handles federal cases. Indiana MyCase covers the state trial docket instead.

Those fees do not set Washington County Clerk copy charges. CourtListener and RECAP can add supplemental federal research.

The supplemental index does not replace PACER or the originating federal court.
