Searching the Washington County Court Docket
Indiana MyCase is the main public search channel.

The portal runs on Odyssey and holds public, nonconfidential cases. You can search by case number, citation, cross-reference, party, business, attorney, court, type, status, or a filing-date range. No ordinary public account is needed. A CAPTCHA may appear, and broad results are capped. Pick Washington County, then add filters with care.
- Open MyCase and select Washington County.
- Enter one known identifier or a party name.
- Compare court, case style, file date, and status.
- Open the matching Chronological Case Summary.
- Confirm a close hearing or certified record with the clerk.
The direct public address reaches the same service.

MyCase is only an index and viewer, not the certified court file. A paper missing online may still sit at the Clerk's office.
Washington County's Two-Court Docket Map
The Indiana Judicial Branch county page identifies the official court structure.

Two trial courts serve the county within the 42nd Judicial Circuit. They are Washington Circuit Court and Washington Superior Court. Superior shares nearly all of Circuit's jurisdiction. Juvenile matters are the exception. Circuit also holds broad trial power over categories fixed by local assignment rules. One Washington County Clerk of Courts serves both. The statewide court selector lists Washington County alone. No separate row exists for a city or town court. When the case number is unknown, run a docket search across both trial courts. The court field and case number on the result tell you where the file lives.
Inside a Washington County Court Docket
Indiana names the event history a Chronological Case Summary, or CCS. Each line can mark a filing, notice, order, hearing, judgment, payment action, transfer, or disposition. New entries often matter most. But older events show how the Washington County case reached its current point.
| Case number | County, court, filing month, type, and sequence, such as format-only 88C01-2501-IF-000001. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Public roles, names, and attorneys, subject to access limits. |
| Entries | Filings, notices, orders, hearings, and judgments. |
| Settings | Date, time, place, judge, type, and status when published. |
| Disposition | The recorded outcome or closing method. |
Money figures in the docket can lag behind what is actually owed. For current amounts and certified copies, the Clerk's office is the authority. A short status code never substitutes for reading the full CCS yourself.
Washington Court Docket Codes
Every local case number opens with county code 88. C01 marks Circuit Court, and D01 marks Superior Court. After that come four digits for filing year and month, then the case type and its sequence number, which makes any Washington County court docket entry easier to place.
- CR, CV, FAM, PR
- MyCase groups for criminal, civil, family, and probate.
- F1 through F6, CM, IF
- Felony levels, misdemeanor, and infraction.
- CC, CT, PL
- Collection, tort, and plenary civil.
- SC and EV
- Small claims and eviction.
- CCS
- The docket event history.
A traffic ticket number and a court number sit in different fields of the docket. Try the citation route first. If that fails, a party search by name usually finds the case.
Courts That Keep Dockets in Washington County
Circuit takes every infraction. It also takes many criminal matters, estates, adoptions, mental-health cases, CHINS, paternity, foreclosures, hardship-license petitions, and other listed categories. Superior handles specified offense groups, all guardianships, all juvenile delinquency, all pro se civil matters, and rotating shares of several civil categories.
| Court | Docket role | Contact |
|---|---|---|
| Washington Circuit | Broad jurisdiction and all infractions | 812-883-5302 |
| Washington Superior | Concurrent jurisdiction and assigned cases | 812-883-4949 |
| Clerk of Courts | Files, copies, certification, and routing | 812-883-5748 |
The county runs no separate probate clerk or Washington municipal clerk. City ordinance and citation questions can still land in the county docket, so start there.
Washington County Government Docket Routes
The county government site links local court, clerk, fee, and justice pages.

Each county channel does one job. The government site offers local contacts. MyCase supplies the public index for the Washington County court docket. A county issue form or payment vendor is not a docket. The Citizen Request Center takes general complaints. It lists no Court Clerk option. PayGov processes eligible payments. But it cannot give you the full CCS, hearing history, or a certified record. The Clerk handles inspection, ordinary and certified copies, current financial data, and routing. Circuit or Superior staff confirm settings. E-filing providers receive filings but are not public viewers. IN Court Streams may carry a live stream when offered. Yet it is not the Washington County court calendar. When MyCase falls short, make a focused request. Name the court. Give the case number. State the exact event or document and its date, say which copy type you need, and offer a delivery choice. Ask for a fee estimate too. The county provides no copy form, drop box, fixed turnaround promise, or general record subscription.
How to Find Court Dates and Settings
Open the case and find the newest HearingEvent. It may list date, time, courtroom, judge, event description, and status. Check later entries marked continued, reset, canceled, or held before relying on it. A past setting is history. It is not proof of the next court date. Washington County posts no standalone daily-calendar site. When a hearing is close or a room is missing, call the assigned court. Administrative Rule 9 requires daily calendars to be available electronically or otherwise, but it does not promise a county calendar website.
Washington Court Docket Clerk Counter
The Clerk of Courts page identifies the official record office.

The office offers in-person inspection, phone routing, mail, email, and a directory fax. A public terminal is not guaranteed, so ask before you travel.

Washington Circuit Court Docket
The official Circuit Court page supplies local contact context.

Circuit sits in Suite 103. Reach it at 812-883-5302. The court takes all infractions plus many fixed criminal, civil, probate, juvenile, and special categories, and published fax numbers disagree, so verify before sending anything.
Washington Superior Court Docket
The Superior Court page describes the companion trial court.

Superior sits in Suite 101. Reach it at 812-883-4949. The court hears assigned civil, criminal, divorce, estate, guardianship, protection-order, and small-claims work, and under the local rule it takes all juvenile delinquency cases and all guardianships in the Washington County court docket.
Public Access to Court Dockets
Access Rule 4 starts from a presumption of public access. Rule 5 seals certain cases. It also limits mental-health and juvenile matters, privileged and treatment material, custody reports, and protected personal data. Rule 9 governs extraordinary-access requests. The Indiana Public Records Act backs particular requests but still yields to these court rules.
Key rules:
Access Rule 4 sets the public baseline.
Access Rule 5 lists exclusions.
IC 5-14-3 governs Indiana public records.
Administrative Rule 9 addresses courthouse records and calendars.
"Not online" does not mean confidential. Many older public documents were never scanned, so a missing docket entry proves nothing. Ask the Clerk before you draw any conclusion.
Missing Washington Docket Documents
A Washington County docket entry can go missing. When it does, work through the clerk in a specific way. Start with the case number and the court it sits in. Pin down the exact entry and its date. Then ask three questions. Is it public, does redaction apply, and can you get an ordinary copy or a certified one? Give the office a delivery choice and request a fee estimate.
Some tools get mistaken for public search. A time-limited party code from the clerk is for parties, not the public. Indiana E-Filing System providers submit filings for lawyers and litigants. But they do not replace MyCase. Name the court, case number, document, date, copy type, and delivery method in any request.
What turns up online depends on the document. Civil orders, criminal final or sentencing orders, infraction orders, and some probate orders are likely candidates when they are nonconfidential. Older files may simply predate scanning. Protection orders follow a separate search route. Juvenile, adoption, mental-health, sealed, and granted expungement records may never appear in public results at all.
One last distinction. A court reporter prepares transcripts, not the Clerk copy desk. A transcript is the spoken record. It differs from a docket entry or a filed order. Tell the office which product you need. The Clerk certifies filed public records. The reporter handles the transcript under the applicable local rule.
Washington Court Docket Visit Rules
The county's security page gives entry context.

Current rules call the shared site the Justice Center. Public entry runs through the southeast doors unless another entrance is designated. Entering means consenting to a search. Weapons and other listed items are barred, so confirm the current rules before a docket inspection or a hearing.
Washington Docket Copies and Fees
The county publishes a court fee page.

The county publishes no itemized local copy table. State references put an ordinary copy at $1 per page and a certificate under seal at $1, though the local application should be confirmed. Filing costs vary by case and service. Inspection itself is free under the state handbook, and transcript requests route to the court reporter.
Washington County Court Dockets by City
Salem, New Pekin, Campbellsburg, Little York, and Livonia are the five largest incorporated places in the 2020 Census ranking. None of them has its own row in the official directory or the MyCase selector. For any docket from these towns, search Washington County first and the case will surface there.

Campbellsburg Docket Search

Salem has a traffic contact, but the city posts no separate public docket portal. Verify any citation result through the county court system.
Washington County Docket Search Channels
Online access is only one route. A docket searcher can use MyCase. The same searcher can visit the Clerk counter, call for routing, contact the assigned court about a hearing setting, or mail or email a focused request. The directory also lists a Clerk fax. Any request should identify the court, case number, exact record or CCS event, date, copy type, delivery choice, and fee approval. The county offers no drop box, no fixed turnaround promise, no general records subscription, and no public terminal.
Know what each system does. The Indiana E-Filing System serves filing parties through certified providers, not the public docket search. PayGov and ePay are payment tools, not case histories. When an online system does not answer the question, the Clerk is the fallback. Appeals, federal actions, and bankruptcies belong in their separate court systems.
Washington County Docket Privacy Boundaries
Public case information can include the court, number, case type, and filing date. Style and party roles may appear too. The list runs through lawyers, charges or claims, settings, dispositions, financial summaries, and document links. The exact display depends on case type and access rules. Public orders may be easier to reach than every paper filed. Party access through a clerk code does not expand the ordinary public view.
Plenty of records stay out of reach. Adoption, juvenile, mental-health, sealed, expunged, and protection-order records can be absent or limited. Social Security numbers are protected. So are medical data, account numbers, child information, victim or witness contacts, custody evaluations, and privileged papers. MyCase may simply omit a result. It will not label it confidential. An empty result means only that the public docket search returned no case.
Washington Docket Search Mistakes
Court selection trips up many docket searches. Picking only Superior can miss an infraction, since all infractions route to Circuit. Searching only Circuit can miss a criminal group assigned to Superior. Treating an OV case as IF can misdirect the search too. Civil work splits by case type, representation, and monthly rotation. A transfer can preserve the sequence. It can change the court identifier.
Do not misread what you find. A reset is not a dismissal. A payment balance is not the docket, and IN Court Streams is not a calendar. An e-filing provider is not MyCase. Match the question to the right tool and confirm time-sensitive facts with the court.
Names need the same care. MyCase offers a sounds-like option, business search, attorney route, and date filters. First name, middle name, and birth-date filters all require a last name. A business name cannot be combined with one. Start broad, then narrow by court, group, status, or filing dates. Results show twenty rows per page and cap broad sets at one thousand.
Confirm the Washington Docket
Before requesting a copy or relying on a hearing setting, check the assigned court and the newest CCS entry on the Washington County docket.
Washington Court History and Program Sources
The Indiana Historical Bureau courthouse marker documents the 1888 courthouse and Salem context.

Do not confuse the historic courthouse with the Justice Center address used for current public access. The official Indiana Odyssey technology page explains the case-management system behind the CCS.

Washington Circuit and Superior have run on Odyssey since July 6, 2009. The Indiana problem-solving courts overview describes the statewide program framework.

Read Washington Veterans Court through current local rules and official program sources. The proposed 2026 problem-solving rules page records the public proposal and comment process.

A proposal should not be described as final procedure unless later adopted.
Map and Directions to the Washington County Justice Center
Washington Circuit Court, Washington Superior Court, and the Clerk of Courts all keep their docket files at the Washington County Justice Center, 801 S. Jackson Street, in Salem. The Clerk's counter is Suite 102, Circuit Court is Suite 103, and Superior Court is Suite 101. The Justice Center is the current public-access building; it is not the same as the 1888 limestone Washington County Courthouse recognized on the National Register.
